Nature and photography have always been in my soul. From many wonder filled memories of being outdoors and experiencing nature with my family, to the present where I now not only experience nature, but also recognize that I am a part of nature, and nature is a part of me.
Presenting Nature as realistically as possible illustrates who Nature truly is and shows Her genuine splendor and Her own art. The photographic medium is the ideal way to educate and illustrate to people about how precious and vital Nature is to us all. My fine art photography exhibits Her beauty and charm, while my environmental photography shows the scars placed upon Her by preventable acts of destruction. I exhibit Her exactly as She appears to me, with no manipulations.
Photographing Nature’s nuances is an exhilarating experience. I have a wonderful time searching for Her hidden beauties, similar to the experience one feels when exploring an abandoned cabin or farmhouse. Around each corner, under the springs of a weathered bed, or behind each door, you will find something that will tell you a story about the history of the house. The more you search, the more secrets you will uncover- the more nuances you will find. Emphasizing these nuances of Nature takes creativity in knowing how to capture a particular nuance.
Whether it’s the color, brilliance, or softness of the light, a delicate plant, a texture, a weathered tree, or a majestic mountain, or it’s the various angles, lenses, and orientations, with a particular film and camera, these all add to the art of Nature’s Nuances Photography.
