Call for Awards

Know someone who has saved a meadow or a mouse? Cleaned up a power plant or hog farm or killed a sprawling development? Organized your Sierra Club group or chapter work in new and amazing ways? Honor their achievements by nominating them for an award and see the results at the chapter retreat September 17-19.

The chapter gives awards for the professional conservationist of the year and volunteer and chapter conservationists, for chapter leader (for administrative work) and for distinguished service over the years. Awards go to outstanding legislators and freshman legislators (one of last year's winners, Mark Udall, is now in Congress), and someone who has rendered extraordinary service to the Colorado environment gets the Columbine Award every few years. (Former U.S. Rep. David Skaggs was the last winner.) Know anyone who has done special harm to the Colorado environment in the past year or two, for the Cowchip Award?

Send nominations by August 28 to Awards Chair Barry Satlow, bsat@bsuites.com or 303-442-1006 (h) 303-442-3535 (o) or to Donna Murphy, dkmurphy@rmi.net.
