Protecting Natural Places
Imagine an America where our wild heritage is protected, respected, and passed on to the next generation to enjoy.
We don't have to imagine. We can protect our parks, monuments, wild forests, wildlife refuges, mountains, grasslands, and coastlines. We can save those smaller green places close to home from pollution and overdevelopment.
Choosing Clean Energy
Imagine an America where we are free to light and heat our homes with safer, cleaner wind or solar power, where our children are free from the air pollution that spews from cars and power plants and the asthma and global warming it causes. Imagine a future free from threats to drill our coasts and the wildlands left to us for safekeeping, precious places like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
We don't have to imagine. We can jump-start our use of existing technology like hybrid cars and renewable energy, and improve our energy-efficiency. We can create millions of jobs, protect our wild places, and make America safer and more secure.
Exercising Democracy
Abraham Lincoln said that we have a government "by the people, for the people, and for the people." But now we are witnessing the breakdown of democracy-of the people's government-in our nation. We seek a government that is committed at all levels to open, democratic, and fair processes, and that does not try to bend the rules to suit its own needs.
Building Healthy Communities
Imagine an America where we take care of our communities, where we decide together how our communities grow, where tax dollars are invested fairly and wisely and benefit all of us—not just developers or the favored few—where we all know what's being planned and we all have a voice in our community's future and options.
We don't have to imagine. All across the nation, more and more cities and towns are turning away from poorly-planned, haphazard development and working together to create more livable communities.
Get the Poisons Out
Imagine an America free from poisoned air and water, where communities are safe and healthy places to raise children, polluters clean up their messes, and new technologies end pollution. We don't have to imagine. We can revitalize our communities today by enforcing the law, making corporations responsible, and installing existing pollution-fighting technology. We can get the poisons out.
